Dr. Allison Bergdoll
Dr. Allison S. Bergdoll grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana. She attended Valparaiso University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Biology and an associate degree from the honors program. Dr. Bergdoll then earned her dental doctorate degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry, where she finished first in her class with a 4.0 GPA. She was honored with prestigious awards, such as the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Outstanding Student Award, the Chancellor's Scholar Award, the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award, and the Cyril S. Carr Dental Student Research Award. Dr. Bergdoll went on to complete her specialty residency in orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned her Masters of Science degree with her thesis entitled, "Icon Caries Infiltrant Resin and MI Paste Plus for the Treatment of White Spot Lesions." She successfully completed the Phase I and II written examination of the American Board of Orthodontics in April 2009.
Dr. Bergdoll is actively involved in the dental community on a local, regional, and national level. She maintains active memberships with the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society, the Indiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, Indiana Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists. In addition, Dr. Bergdoll also holds a number of leadership positions in these respective associations. She was recently elected and is now serving as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Indiana Association of Orthodontists and is a board member of the Young Dentist Committee of the Isaac Knapp District Dental Society.
Dr. Bergdoll was recently honored to be chosen by the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) to attend the 2015 Emerging Leader Conference. She was one of 75 AAO members to be selected for this prestigious conference. She was also selected to be a member of the Indiana AIR (Acceptance, Inclusion, Respect) program through the Indiana Dental Association. The mission of Indiana AIR is to cultivate leaders who strive to create a receptive and inclusive dental association in recognition and appreciation of the changing landscape of dentistry.
In addition to the above, Dr. Bergdoll is very involved in the community. She supports several nonprofit organizations and attends numerous fund-raising events. In particular, Dr. Bergdoll is an acting Co-Director of the Kids-First Cleft/Craniofacial Clinic serving northeast Indiana. Kids-First Cleft/Craniofacial Clinic is a jointly operated pediatric-craniofacial clinic shared by both Lutheran Children’s Hospital and Parkview Regional Children’s Center, whose primary focus involves evaluation and treatment of children with cleft lip or palate deformity or a craniofacial syndrome. The Kids-First team is made up of devoted medical and dental professionals who donate their time to provide a team approach to cleft care and set aside competing practices to support the clinic.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bergdoll enjoys running, biking, swimming, camping, and hiking. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and their beautiful children, Keira and Elliott.
